Signs for Anderson, South Carolina

Anderson is about 100 miles up I-85 from our Duluth shop, and it's the one South Carolina city we serve. We make signs for Anderson businesses, from the downtown historic districts to Clemson Boulevard.

Warehouse receiving and dock signage

The Electric City

Anderson got its Electric City nickname when hydroelectric power arrived in 1895. Today it's a manufacturing hub, with Lake Hartwell and Anderson University close by. Plants and warehouses need safety, dock and warehouse signs, and commercial sites need building and monument signs.

The busiest commercial corridors are Clemson Boulevard (US 76) at I-85 Exit 19, Liberty Highway (US 178) at Exit 21 and SC 81 toward Anderson University.

New sign rules on the way

The city has been working on a new Unified Development Ordinance. Local reporting says the draft bans billboards and pole, flashing and roof signs, and gives older signs that don't comply until 2033. If your business has an older pole sign, it's worth planning a monument sign to replace it.

Sign permits in Anderson

Inside city limits, sign permits go through Planning and Development on South Main Street, using the city's online permit portal. Signs in a city historic district, including Downtown, need a Certificate of Appropriateness from the Board of Architectural Review. Outside city limits, Anderson County handles sign permits.
